There are 11 bat species in Ohio, and all of them are relatively small. They are often misidentified. Bats are typically nocturnal, however, they may begin foraging at dusk before the sun has completely set. Any bat out during full daylight could be in distress. Many bats have trouble launching from the ground and need to be on a safe, vertical surface to take flight. Call us immediately if you find a bat that is on the ground or appears to be in trouble.
